Tips and Tricks

Attention Young Riders (of all ages...)! 

There are several basic skills every rider has to learn, including:

  • Tacking your horse
  • Leading your horse
  • Addressing the reins
  • Diagonals
  • Reverse
  • Posting
  • Round the world
  • Cantering

Over the next few weeks, we'll go over these skills and give you some of our tips and tricks that will help you work with - not against! - yoiur horse.

The Hardwood Creek Youth Group (open to all of the young riders taking lessons) meets once a month to work on their Horsemastership Achievement Program (run by the American Morgan Horse Association). We also like to take some time to review these skills with them. Check our calendar for the next meeting in April - we hope to see you there!
