Lesson Arrival

Students must arrive early, be prepared and mounted on their horse before the scheduled lesson.

  • Beginners should arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled lesson time to assist with grooming and tacking their mount.
  • Intermediate and advanced riders should arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled lesson time to groom and tack their mount.

Upon arrival at Hardwood Creek Farm:

  • Find out which horse you will be riding and check the clipboard.
  • Find a helmet that fits and make sure it is properly adjusted.
  • Having to stop and adjust your helmet can take 5-10 minutes out of your riding time.
  • Find the proper saddle and bridle for your mount.
  • Adjust your stirrups before your start time.

If you take 10 minutes to adjust stirrups and mount, you are only left with 20 minutes to ride.

Purchasing your own helmet, stirrup leathers and irons can help speed up your preparation time. We will be happy to assist you with these purchases. Riders should plan on spending 10 to 15 minutes after their lesson to cool their horse down and put away equipment.
